Earthworks, levelling and platforms

CARRIED OUT WITH OUR OWN MACHINERY AND TEAM

Earthworks, levelling and platformsillustrative image

We prepare the ground for construction or landscaping: stripping, levelling, ballast fill and compaction to the required level. We work with our own bulldozers, motor grader and compactor rollers, and the platform is handed over ready for use or ready for pouring.

What the work includes

  • stripping and grading of the land
  • levelling and profiling with the motor grader
  • fill with ballast, crushed stone or soil
  • compaction in layers, with a roller or vibratory compactor
  • platforms for halls, warehouses and car parks
  • gravel paths and access roads

How it is done

  1. We survey the land and set the levels.
  2. We strip and remove the unsuitable layer.
  3. We lay the fill in layers and compact each layer.
  4. We do the final profiling with the grader and hand over the platform.

Frequently asked questions

How thick should the ballast layer under a platform be?

It depends on the subgrade and on the loads the platform will carry. The work is done in layers compacted separately, and we set the total thickness after seeing the ground.

What is the difference between a bulldozer and a motor grader?

The bulldozer moves large volumes of soil and does most of the levelling. The motor grader gives the final, precise profile with its long blade — that is why they are used together.
